Scenes and Plan Review

The Plan’s AI tools help at two different scales. Brainstorm One Scene develops a particular gap. Brainstorm All Scenes proposes a first scene-level structure. AI Plan Review examines and revises the Plan you already have.
Choosing the right scale matters. A full set of generated scenes is useful when the canvas is nearly blank; it is considerably less charming when you already spent three months arranging one.
Brainstorm One Scene
Choose Plan → Scenes → Add Scenes with AI → Brainstorm One Scene. The story needs a synopsis or outline before this option becomes available.
The assistant helps develop one scene inside the Scene Wizard, using the existing story, characters, storylines, locations and surrounding Plan as context.
Review each part of the proposal:
- Narrative function and scene type
- Entry state, scene goal, core events and exit state
- Conflict, obstacle, turning point and subtext
- Cast, point of view, traits and character-journey developments
- Story beats and storyline connections
- Locations, exposition, timing and duration
- Act and sequence or chapter placement
Nothing becomes part of the Plan until you finish the Scene Wizard.
When to Use It
Choose one scene when you know the gap you are solving: the confrontation after a reveal, the decision that launches Act Two or the missing causal step between two otherwise excellent disasters.
Ask for alternatives when the obvious version feels flat. Comparing three possible turns is often more useful than asking the assistant to decide which one belongs in your story.
Brainstorm All Scenes
Choose Plan → Scenes → Add Scenes with AI → Brainstorm All Scenes. This option requires a synopsis or outline and at least one Main character.
The tool uses the current story and cast to propose a larger scene Plan organized into acts and sequences. Review the proposed scene cards and connected supporting material before adding them.
Check the result for:
- Repeated scenes performing the same function
- Missing causes or consequences
- Central characters reacting without making choices
- Storylines that disappear for long stretches
- Beats that sound plausible but do not answer the dramatic question
- New supporting material that conflicts with established canon
Generation is a starting structure, not a referendum on your original idea. Subplots occasionally arrive wearing name badges but have no apparent reason to be at the party.
When to Use It
Run Brainstorm All Scenes when the Story foundation is stable but the scene-level path is still mostly blank.
If you already have a substantial Plan, AI Plan Review is usually the safer tool because it works with what exists rather than proposing a new complete set.
AI Plan Review
Select AI Plan Review in the Plan toolbar to discuss the existing Plan and its Analysis findings. The review can identify structural problems, answer focused questions and prepare concrete revisions.
Proposed changes are shown for review. Nothing is applied until you approve it, and accepted changes are grouped so they can be undone.
Useful questions include:
- Which scenes repeat the same dramatic function?
- Where does the protagonist stop causing events?
- Which setup-and-payoff issue most affects the central storyline?
- How could the middle be shortened without losing the relationship arc?
- What would change if this reveal moved one sequence earlier?
When to Use It
Use Plan Review after you have enough material for the assistant to examine relationships rather than invent them. Focus each conversation on one problem; “make everything better” is an understandable feeling but a poor revision instruction.
Analysis findings make useful starting points, but you do not need to run every report before opening Plan Review.
A Focused Revision Loop
- Describe one problem or question.
- Ask the review to identify the affected scenes and storylines.
- Discuss alternatives before requesting changes.
- Inspect the prepared revisions.
- Apply only the changes that preserve your intention.
- Read the revised section in Summary.
- Rerun only the Analysis reports materially affected by the change.
