Plain-language terms

Terms of use.

Last updated: July 29, 2026

The Storiis Mac application is licensed to you under Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. That agreement governs your license to the app itself. This page sets out the additional terms that apply when you use the Storiis website, the optional Storiis AI features, and Cloud AI Access.

The app license is Apple’s. Storiis does not impose its own end user license agreement. Your license to use the Storiis application is Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”), which also appears in the License Agreement section of the Storiis product page on the Mac App Store. Where anything on this page conflicts with the Apple EULA on a matter the Apple EULA covers, the Apple EULA controls.

1. The short version

  • Apple’s EULA licenses the app. These terms cover the website and the optional online and AI services.
  • Your story is yours. We claim no ownership of what you write, plan, or generate in Storiis.
  • You direct the AI, and you are responsible for what you ask it to produce and for what you do with the result.
  • Some things may not be generated with Storiis AI under any setting. Section 6 lists them.
  • Apple handles purchases, renewals, and refunds for the app and its in-app purchases.

2. Who may use Storiis

Storiis is rated 18+ and includes optional settings for mature and explicit fiction. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, to purchase or use Storiis. You are responsible for keeping your Mac, your account credentials, your API keys, and any AI client you connect to Storiis secure.

3. Your content and your rights

You keep all rights in your story documents, plans, characters, worldbuilding, notes, prompts, and the material you generate with Storiis. We do not claim ownership of it, we do not use it to train models, and we do not sell it. You grant Storiis only the limited permission needed to operate the features you actually use: to transmit and process content when you invoke an AI operation, to store the documents you select for Cloud AI Access, and to retain support messages you send us. What that means in detail, including which providers are involved and how long anything is kept, is described in the Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for keeping your own backups. Storiis is a document-based application, and your working file lives where you put it.

4. Subscriptions, credits, and billing

Storiis requires an active subscription. Subscriptions, in-app purchases, and Cloud AI Access are sold through the Mac App Store, so Apple processes payment, renewal, and cancellation, and Apple’s terms govern the transaction. Manage or cancel a subscription in System Settings, under your Apple Account, in Media & Purchases. Refund requests go to Apple, not to us; we can help you with everything else.

AI features are metered in credits. Subscription credits are granted for a billing month and, except where a plan states otherwise, do not carry over to the next month. Credits purchased in a Brainstorm Pack are consumed after your monthly allowance. Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred, sold, or redeemed for money, and are not refundable once spent. Current prices, allowances, and rollover behaviour are shown on the pricing page and in the app before you purchase, and may change on notice for future billing periods.

5. AI features are optional

The planning, reference, character, timeline, backup, and export tools in Storiis work without AI. Storiis AI, AI image generation, and Cloud AI Access are optional services you choose to turn on. When you use them, content you have selected is sent to third-party providers for processing, as described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Acceptable use of AI features

Storiis is built for adult fiction, and its maturity and style settings are there to be used. The following are prohibited regardless of any setting, and are not a matter of taste:

  • Sexual content involving minors, or involving any character whose age is not clearly established as adult. This is prohibited absolutely, it cannot be enabled by any setting, and it is enforced on every request.
  • Sexual content depicting a real, identifiable person without their consent, and sexualized depictions of real people generally.
  • Content that harasses, threatens, defames, or impersonates a real person, or that is presented as a real person’s actual statements or conduct.
  • Content intended to incite violence against real people or groups, or to promote self-harm.
  • Operational instructions for weapons, explosives, or other real-world harm, presented as fiction or otherwise.
  • Reproducing another author’s protected work, or generating output designed to pass as another living author’s work for commercial purposes.
  • Deliberately attempting to bypass, disable, or probe the content safeguards, rate limits, or metering, including by splitting a prohibited request across several requests.
  • Automated, scripted, or bulk use of the AI features or the Cloud AI Access endpoint beyond ordinary authoring, and reselling access or credits to others.

7. Screening and enforcement

AI requests are screened automatically before generation. A request that is refused consumes no credits. Screening is calibrated for adult fiction: it is not there to police mature themes the app’s rating covers, and it is deliberately strict about categories no rating permits.

Where use breaches section 6, we may refuse a request, limit or suspend access to the AI features or Cloud AI Access, or, for serious or repeated breaches, end access to those services. We will act proportionately, and we will tell you why where we can. Suspending an optional service does not remove the app itself from your Mac or affect your local documents. Every AI result in the app has a Report control, and you can reach us at any time through the support page.

8. What AI output is and is not

AI output is generated text and imagery. It may be inaccurate, inconsistent with your canon, or similar to material the model was trained on, and two people may receive similar results from similar prompts. We do not warrant that output is accurate, original, or fit for publication, and nothing generated by Storiis is legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. Before you publish or commercially exploit AI-assisted work, it is your responsibility to review it, and to satisfy any disclosure obligation a publisher, platform, contest, or jurisdiction places on AI-assisted material.

9. Cloud AI Access

Cloud AI Access is a separate optional subscription. It stores a cloud copy of the story documents you select and provides a secure endpoint that an outside AI client you authorize can read. That AI client is a third-party product governed by its own terms, and we do not control what it does with what it reads, so choose what you sync deliberately. Suggestions from a connected client are appended to your plan for your review and are never applied to your canon automatically. When you remove a document or your entitlement ends, the cloud copy is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Using this website

The Storiis name, logo, site design, documentation, and marketing material are ours, and are not licensed for reuse except as ordinary quotation with attribution permits. Please do not attempt to disrupt the site or its services, circumvent rate limiting, or use the support form to send unsolicited or abusive messages.

11. Availability and changes

The online and AI services depend on third-party providers and may be interrupted, changed, or discontinued. We may add, alter, or remove features, providers, and models, including the models behind the AI features, provided we do not reduce what a plan offers during a period you have already paid for. Where a change materially reduces a paid service we will give notice and, where appropriate, a proportionate remedy.

12. Liability

The Apple EULA sets out the disclaimers and limits that apply to the licensed application, including Apple’s role and its limitation of liability. For the website, Storiis AI, and Cloud AI Access, and to the extent the law allows, those services are provided as they are, and our aggregate liability arising from them is limited to the amount you paid for the affected service in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product, its providers, or the law changes. The revised version will be posted here with a new date, and we will give additional notice where a change is material. Continuing to use the website or the optional services after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms. The Apple EULA is Apple’s document and may change independently of this page.
