Keeping the Plan Aligned with AI Suggestions

Drafting changes stories. A character makes a better decision than the one you planned. A scene’s turning point moves. A new fact becomes important, or a story beat lands differently once it exists in prose.
When an outside AI writing system discovers one of those changes, Cloud AI Access provides a controlled way to feed it back into Storiis. The AI files a suggestion; you decide what becomes part of the Plan.
Read-Only Does Not Mean One-Way
Cloud AI Access remains read-only. The outside AI cannot directly change the local story, even when you ask it to revise something.
It can file a structured suggestion for Storiis to retrieve. That separation preserves author control while avoiding a second, entirely manual pass through every difference between manuscript and Plan.
The complete loop is:
- The writing AI reads the synced Plan and drafts or revises prose.
- You decide which prose changes are worth keeping.
- The AI compares the accepted direction with the Plan and files suggestions for the differences.
- Storiis retrieves those proposals into the AI Suggestions inbox.
- You accept, manually incorporate or dismiss each suggestion.
- You sync the document so the writing AI sees the aligned Plan before continuing.
Ask for Suggestions Deliberately
Suggestions work best after you have reviewed the prose and decided which changes are intentional. A speculative first draft may contain a dozen inventions that disappear during revision; they do not all need to become Plan proposals.
After approving a scene, ask the writing AI:
- Which accepted events differ from the scene’s Core Events or Exit State?
- Did the characters reveal a new fact, relationship or decision that should become canon?
- Did a story beat land differently from the Plan?
- Did the scene move, add or remove a planned development?
- Has the point-of-view character’s knowledge changed?
- Which differences must be recorded before drafting the next scene?
Then explicitly tell it to file Storiis suggestions for the changes you want to retain.
A useful instruction is:
Compare the accepted version of this scene with its current Storiis Plan. List the meaningful differences first. After I confirm them, file structured Storiis suggestions for the approved changes. Do not assume a suggestion has been accepted, and do not file discarded improvisations.
Finding New Suggestions
The AI Suggestions button appears in the story toolbar for documents using Cloud AI Access. Its badge shows the number of open suggestions.
Storiis checks for waiting suggestions when the document opens and during sync. Open the inbox to view:
- Open suggestions awaiting a decision
- Resolved suggestions that were accepted, handled or dismissed
Each card identifies its source, kind of change and target. When proposed field values are available, the card shows the current and proposed information. Select the target link to open the affected Plan item.
Accepting a Supported Suggestion
When Storiis can safely map a current suggestion to a supported Plan operation, the card offers Accept.
Supported suggestions can include common operations such as:
- Revising scenes, storylines, story beats and selected act information
- Adding scenes, storylines or story beats
- Moving scenes, storylines or story beats
- Removing scenes, storylines or story beats
Selecting Accept applies the proposal as one undoable Storiis edit. Destructive removals require confirmation.
The AI still has not edited the Plan on its own. Accept is the author action that applies the change through Storiis’ normal editing system.
Review the result in context. A technically valid suggestion may still be dramatically wrong, which remains one of software’s less interesting but more dependable traditions.
Incorporating a Suggestion Manually
Some suggestions are review-only because they:
- Provide a note rather than a directly applicable edit
- Target a field or relationship that Storiis cannot safely change automatically
- Refer to an item that no longer exists
- Became stale because the Plan changed after the suggestion was filed
Stale suggestions do not offer one-click acceptance. This prevents an older proposal from silently overwriting a newer author edit.
When a review-only suggestion is useful:
- Select its target to open the relevant item.
- Compare the proposed direction with the current Plan.
- Make the appropriate edit using the normal Storiis controls.
- Return to AI Suggestions and choose Mark handled.
Manual incorporation is not a lesser path. It is often the right choice when the prose implies several connected changes or when the proposed wording needs interpretation rather than direct replacement.
Dismissing a Suggestion
Choose Dismiss when a proposal is not useful, describes a discarded prose choice or conflicts with your intention.
Accepted, manually handled and dismissed suggestions move into the resolved history. This keeps the open inbox focused without pretending every outside-AI proposal deserved a ceremony.
Close the Loop with a Sync
An accepted suggestion becomes an ordinary local Plan edit. A manual incorporation does too.
Run a document sync after resolving suggestions so the Cloud AI copy contains the changes. The next writing request can then retrieve the aligned scene, beat and canon instead of reasoning from the older version.
The loop is complete only when these three versions agree:
- The prose you decided to keep
- The local Storiis Plan
- The synced Plan available to the writing AI
A Good End-of-Scene Routine
- Review and revise the generated prose.
- Decide which departures from the Plan are intentional.
- Ask the writing AI to identify those differences.
- Approve the list and ask it to file suggestions.
- Open AI Suggestions in Storiis.
- Accept supported proposals or incorporate them manually.
- Dismiss proposals you do not want.
- Save and sync before drafting the next scene.
