System Settings

Open Storiis → Settings or press Command–Comma to manage app-wide preferences, your subscription, AI credits, Cloud AI Access and backups.
Settings apply across Storiis rather than to one particular story, although your chosen backup location is stored separately on each Mac.

General
Appearance
Choose Light, Dark or System. System follows the appearance selected in macOS and changes along with it.
Hide AI Features
Turn on Hide AI features to remove AI controls throughout the app, including Brainstorm buttons and the Analysis section. This is useful if you want a completely manual planning environment—or simply prefer not to have every glowing sparkle button whispering temptingly from the corner of the screen.

The Credits & Usage and Cloud AI Access settings remain available so you can still manage your account and billing.
Share Anonymous Usage Analytics
Usage analytics help improve Storiis by reporting which features are used and where people spend time in the app. They do not include story content, story or character names, or personal information.
You can turn this setting off at any time. Turning it off also clears queued analytics events.
Backups
Your Storiis document is the working copy of your story plan. Backups are separate, zipped copies of that document that you can open if the original is lost or damaged.
Backups are enabled by default and are stored inside Storiis unless you choose another folder. For stronger protection, select a folder you control—ideally one that is itself backed up or synced.

Choosing a Backup Location
Under Backup location, select Choose… and pick a folder. Storiis creates a separate subfolder for each story so backups from different projects do not mingle into one large, mysterious pile.
Select Reveal in Finder to open the current backup location.
If a custom folder is moved or Storiis loses permission to reach it, Settings will warn you. Choose the folder again to restore access.
Choosing When Backups Are Created
You can create backups:
- On document open
- On document close or app quit
- On manual save when you press Command–S
- Every few minutes while you work
Timed, close and quit backups are only created when a story has changed since its last backup. Leaving an untouched document open will not quietly generate a geological record of identical files.
macOS may delay timed backups while Storiis is in the background to conserve power.
Limiting the Number of Backups
Turn on Limit backups per story and choose how many recent copies to retain. When a new backup is made, older copies of that same story are removed once the limit is exceeded.
The limit applies separately to each story.
Creating a Backup Manually
Select Back Up Now to create backups of your currently open stories immediately. The bottom of the pane shows when the most recent backup completed or whether it encountered an error.
Restoring a Backup
- Select Reveal in Finder.
- Open the folder for the affected story.
- Locate the backup created before the problem occurred.
- Copy it to a safe working location.
- Open the copied document in Storiis.
Keep the backup itself unchanged until you have confirmed that the restored document contains what you need.
Credits & Usage
This section shows your available AI credits, recent AI-request count and Brainstorm Pack credits. It also provides access to Brainstorm Packs and explains what story information is sent when you use Storiis AI.

Subscription
The Subscription pane shows your active Storiis plan, billing period, renewal status and included AI allowance. You can change plans or restore App Store purchases from here.
Plan changes and cancellations are handled through the App Store. If auto-renewal is turned off, the pane shows when access ends.
Cloud AI Access
Use this section to manage your private MCP connection, copy connection details, regenerate its password and manage the stories you have made available to external AI tools.
